Why You’re Still Not Feeling Better
Many of my clients have been scoped every which way, only to be handed a generic label with no real solution. That’s because they’re not getting the full picture. Think strains like Lactobacillus rhamnosus and Bifidobacterium longum. But again, you need the right ones for your body, based on testing, not whatever is trending.

So, What’s the Deal With Non-Dairy vs. Dairy-Free vs. Lactose-Free?
This question came up with a patient recently, and it’s more confusing than it should be—especially since the FDA doesn’t clearly define all these terms. Here’s how to think about it:
Dairy-Free: Contains absolutely no milk, cheese, or milk derivatives. It’s what vegans and those with a dairy allergy need.
Lactose-Free: Made from dairy, but the lactose (milk sugar) has been removed. Think lactose-free milk—it still comes from a cow.
Non-Dairy: Tricky. It may still contain milk proteins like casein or whey. In fact, some “non-dairy” creamers contain milk derivatives. Yep, confusing!
If you have a true milk allergy or follow a strict vegan diet, “non-dairy” is not safe enough. You need something explicitly labeled dairy-free.
It’s Time to Dig Deeper
This isn’t about band-aid fixes. You can’t pop a probiotic or grab a “gut health” supplement off Amazon and expect miracles. In fact, ordering supplements from unverified sellers online is risky—you don’t know what’s really in that bottle.
