There’s a lot of confusion out there about lectins, food sensitivities, and gut health. Today, I’m cutting through the noise to give you the facts. If you’ve ever wondered why you feel bloated, sluggish, or just “off” after eating certain foods—or why your gut issues just won’t go away—this one’s for you. We’re diving into the truth about lectins, leaky gut, glyphosate, and how to get real answers through functional testing.
Are Food Sensitivities Holding You Back?
Did you know one in seven people has a food sensitivity they don’t even know about? In my Bio Unique Boutique program, we use testing—not guessing—to pinpoint the exact foods, drinks, and supplements that could be sabotaging your health. Are you ready to get started? Hit the button and schedule a call with me today! It's free and will get you on the right track.
Symptoms like brain fog, bloating, constipation, or fatigue might be your body’s way of waving a white flag. But with the right tests, we can identify what’s going wrong and get you on a path to healing.
Let’s Talk Lectins
Lectins are sticky plant proteins found in foods like beans, legumes, grains, and nightshades (think tomatoes, potatoes, and peppers). While lectins act as a natural defense mechanism in plants, they can also trigger gut issues in some people—especially if your gut lining isn’t as sealed as it should be.
Some lectins are large and don’t easily pass through your gut barrier. But others—like wheat germ agglutinin and aquaporins—are sneaky little proteins that can cross even an intact gut lining. This makes them particularly troublesome for people with IBS, autoimmune conditions, or unexplained symptoms.
Leaky Gut: The Hidden Culprit
Lectins and gluten can trigger the release of zonulin, a protein that opens the tight junctions in your gut. When that happens, harmful substances can slip into your bloodstream, causing inflammation and potentially contributing to autoimmune issues.
We can test for leaky gut by looking at markers like anti-zonulin and secretory IgA—just one part of the comprehensive testing I offer inside the Bio Unique Boutique.
The Power of Functional Testing
You don’t need to keep guessing. We can test for:
Lectin sensitivity
Food sensitivities (96-food panels or targeted panels for dairy, soy, gluten, etc.)
Glyphosate and other environmental toxins
Microbiome imbalances
Soy and aquaporin reactions
This is precision nutrition tailored to your body—not your aunt’s, your coworker’s, or that influencer’s on Instagram.
Real Results, Not Food Fads
Yes, lectins are all over social media right now, but this isn’t about trends. It’s about getting real answers to your health questions. Functional nutrition is science-backed and customized. My clients often resolve symptoms in just a few months—sometimes even reintroducing foods they previously couldn’t tolerate.
